Tostadora GeneThe GeneCafé CBR-101 roaster is the result of a long search for a reliable, easy-to-use home and laboratory roaster. The basic roasting process consists of heating the beans to between 230 and 250 ºC in a home roaster; in industrial roasters the temperature may vary. Thanks to its totally automatic continuous operation and its capacity of up to 250 g of green beans per roast, it is the ideal roaster for your business or for your own home. When you begin to roast the green beans they will turn first yellow, then brown; the moisture inside the beans will begin to turn to steam and the steam will quickly begin to take on a familiar aroma, that of roasted coffee.

You will hear a clear pop when the last moisture is expelled from the bean; at this point, sugars begin to caramelize and you can consider the coffee roasted. Of course, this is the lightest roast; if you continue roasting, sugars will continue to caramelize and the oils present in the beans will be liberated

Second popTostadora
You will hear another clear pop. At this point your coffee will be very dark. Most people consider the process finished before hearing the secon dpop; if you keep roasting much longer than the second pop, sugars will have burnt off and your beans will produce a harsh, bitter cup of coffee. Only your own preferences can determine how far you wish to go; repeated experimenting will help you to find you rideal roast. We suggest you save a few beans from a roast with which you are satisfied in order to be able to compare the colour, however, we are always at your disposal, and in the instruction manual you will find relevant information. We are considering the idea, if there is interest in the home market, of providing green coffee beans to those private customers who request them.
